Today, we’re excited to share 3 easy-to-implement productivity hacks for small business owners — each of which has allowed us to work productively: to serve our clients wholeheartedly, to manage and market our business consistently, and to stick to our business hours, too!
3 Easy-to-Implement Productivity Hacks
- Embrace project management software. Over the years, we have met with many business owners who opt for pen and paper or a day planner. While we also love the feeling of crossing off a to-do list, pen and paper simply aren’t enough. Project management software can help you to be more organized, to work more efficiently, to create a sound Client Experience, and to ensure all of the key details for each Client you serve are accounted for. According to Wrike, businesses without project management software spend 50% of their time simply organizing and understanding their to-dos, rather than doing their to-dos! By implementing project management software, you do more of what you love most — creating!
- Write evergreen content – and recycle your content. The most successful blog posts are those with evergreen content: content that is relevant and has longevity, no matter the time of year. As you brainstorm the topics you’d like to blog about, focus on the content that will be relevant at any time. That way, as it grows on Pinterest, and as it is shared on Facebook, it will be relevant to your readers. Then, with that evergreen content in mind, recycle your content. Use a system like Buffer or CoSchedule to schedule social media posts with your old content. That way, you’ll be present on social media, and you’ll be marketing your business — with just a little bit of preparation!
- Use block scheduling. Rather than jumping from one task to another — design purposeful block scheduling to help you focus and remain productive all day long. Commit to a work schedule (Like 8 AM – 4 PM) and divide your day as needed. (For example: Emails from 8-9, Client Check-Ins from 9-10, Design Projects from 10-12, Lunch from 12-12:30…) By using block scheduling, you can be present and give your best to each task at hand. Don’t forget to end your workday, too! As small business owners, it’s easy to move from your office to your couch, laptop in hand. Remember that working too much can stifle your productivity and your creativity — no to mention your happiness. Take breaks and give yourself white space!
