Last weekend, we had an opportunity to speak at the Creative at Heart Conference in Annapolis and since then, our hearts have been overflowing with joy, and we’ve begun to approach our business with a renewed sense of purpose.
Today, it’s on our heart to write about growth and the slowly growing business. If you’ve been in business for awhile and the growth you’re experiencing is slow – this post is for you!
If your business is growing slowly…
- First, embrace and celebrate the slow growth. A slowly growing business is not a sign of a failing business. Every business progresses and grows differently, and having a slowly growing business does have its blessings! Furthermore, growth is growth – whether it’s fast or slow.
- Take time to explore the heart behind your business. Why do you do what you do? Is your ‘Why’ something you’re sharing with your audience? Or is it something only you know? Conversely, are you unsure of why you started your business? Is it something you need to explore before moving forward? Use your slow growth as an opportunity to ensure your business has a firm foundation and that you’re working from a place of meaning.
- Invest in the Clients you do have, rather than stressing over the Clients you don’t yet have. So often in business, we believe success is determined by quantity over quality: the quantity of our followers, visitors, inquiries, and clients. This simply isn’t the case! With every Client, you’re given a fresh and new opportunity to provide an experience like no other — an experience your Clients will remember, cherish, and share with their loved ones. Word of mouth is a powerful thing, so give your current Clients something your future Clients will look forward to!
A slowly growing business isn’t a sign of failure or struggle. A slowly growing business is an opportunity to become deeply rooted in a meaningful and purposeful business journey.
“Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”
– Colossians 2:7
