One of the most exciting moments for any small business owner is the debut of their new website — especially a website reflective of your expertise, designed to connect with your preferred clients. Whether your website is a template that took days for you to customize, or you’ve worked with a professional web designer over the course of several weeks, it’s so exciting to share your new online presence with your audience and the world. So, today, we’re sharing how to create a website launch your audience will engage with and remember.

How to Build Engagement for Your Website Launch

Welcome to Episode 221 of The Brand It, Build It Podcast. I’m your host, Kelly Zugay, and today we’re talking about an exciting milestone for any business: launching a new website! Today, we’re sharing effective strategies for creating buzz and anticipation for your new website — and how to create a website launch your audience will engage with and remember.

When it comes to launching your new website, there are pre-launch strategies, launch-strategies, and post-launch strategies — and we’re going to explore each!

Pre-Launch Strategies

  1. Provide Sneak Peeks on Social Media: Share cropped screen grabs of your new website, or create mockups of your new website to share on social media. These sneak peeks can help build excitement leading up to your official launch day.
  2. Create a Countdown Timer: On your Coming Soon page, in a newsletter, or on social media, create a countdown timer so you can engage your audience and create excitement for your website’s debut.
  3. Create an Email Marketing Campaign: Leading up to your launch day, leverage your newsletter audience by sharing sneak peeks of your website, telling the story of why you created a new website for your business, or sharing what your audience can expect from your new online presence. This will bring your audience in on the journey of celebrating your launch with you.
  4. Enlist the Help of Fellow Vendors and Past Clients: Let fellow vendors and past clients know about your upcoming launch. Share graphics and swipe copy with them, so they can share about your launch with their audience, too.
  5. Hold a Contest or Giveaway: Leading up to your launch day, or on your launch day, hold a contest or a giveaway. This will incentivize your audience to be engaged with your launch and can motivate them to take part in the celebration of your new website.

Launch Strategies

  1. Host a Virtual Event, Livestream, or Q+A Session: On your launch day, host some type of virtual event that allows you to engage with your audience. This live event could be an unveiling of your new website, a Q+A session, or even a new product launch alongside your new website. Whatever your approach may be, a virtual event equips you to engage with your audience.
  2. Offer an Exclusive Discount: Perhaps those who visit your website on launch day will receive an exclusive discount of some kind — something to incentivize their visit to your website.
  3. Provide Freebies or Bonuses: Similarly, perhaps you can offer freebies or bonuses to those who make a purchase or book a service from your website on your launch day.
  4. Post on Social Media Throughout the Day: Throughout your launch day, post and engage on social media, so you can maintain momentum and attract more visitors to your website.
  5. Share User-Generated Content: If you enlist the help of fellow vendors and past clients who then share about your launch day, be sure to share their content with your audience, too. Sharing user-generated content helps to build trust and credibility.

Post-Launch Strategies

  1. Send a Newsletter: Following your launch day, send an additional newsletter that reminds your audience of your launch, recaps how your launch day went, or shares highlights from your new website. Perhaps your newsletter audience didn’t see your social media posts on your launch day — and sending a newsletter is what brings them in on the celebration!
  2. Share Visitors’ Feedback: If you received feedback from visitors on your launch day, consider sharing their comments and kind feedback on social media, your newsletter, or your blog. Just like user-generated content, their feedback can help to build trust and credibility.
  3. Write a Blog Post: A blog post can live forever on your website and help with search engine optimization. Further, a blog post allows you to write long-form content about your new website — the motivation behind creating a new website, the intentionality behind your new web design, and more.
  4. Create Video Content: Video content is another great way to share about your new website. Create videos that scroll through and navigate your website, or share never-before-seen branded video content. When you use video, you provide your audience with an additional way to engage with your brand.
  5. Track Analytics + Make Continuous Improvements: Last but not least, track your website analytics, not only from your launch day, but also in the days and weeks that follow. When you do, you can determine what is working well and what could be improved upon — or workout any kinks your visitors have experienced with your new website.

By using our recommended pre-launch, launch, and post-launch strategies, you can create buzz, engage your audience, and ensure a successful website launch day. A well-planned website launch can make a lasting impression and lay a foundation for your ongoing success! Thanks for tuning in!
