3 Things You Should Always Include on Your Website

  1. A clear mission statement or statement of purpose.  As a small business owner, it can seem silly to ask yourself, “What exactly do I offer?”  However, as a prospective client — or someone who is viewing your website for the very first time — this piece of information is the most important piece of information you can offer.  This clear, concise mission statement or statement of purpose will help a viewer to understand exactly what you do and who you do it for. At With Grace and Gold, ours is: “With Grace and Gold is a Minneapolis-based design boutique dedicated to creating purposeful and authentic branding for small businesses.”  Through just one sentence, we’ve made it clear that we’re based in Minneapolis, we offer design services, we offer branding services, and we offer those services to small businesses.  This piece of information is one of the first pieces of information a viewer will see on our website.  Why? Because if we offer what the visitor is looking for, they’ll continue clicking around and getting to know our business better! The last thing we want is to have a visitor feel lost — or as though information is challenging to find.  (We ensure the same thing for the clients we serve!)
  2. The process or experience you offer. We know we’re not the only branding and design business in town — which is awesome, because how boring would that be?! ;-) However, we also know that we have a unique process and experience to offer to our clients.  While we don’t share everything about our process or experience (Those surprises are reserved just for our clients!) we do give visitors a sense of what the experience is like while working with With Grace and Gold. Sharing your process or experience is key, because in a saturated market, it’s what will set you apart and cause someone to choose you over a competitor.
  3. Words of praise or testimonials.  Testimonials are super important! Your visitors and prospective clients want to know what it’s like to work with you — and they want to hear about other peoples’ experiences.  As business owners, we could probably go on forever about what our business and process is like.  However, when words of praise or testimonials are shared, it is an added layer of awesome to add to your business and brand!  So, be sure to collect testimonials and add them to your website!
