Episode 100 of The Brand It, Build It Podcast is here! Since January 2020, we’ve released weekly, brief, actionable episodes to equip small business owners for success in brand design, web design, marketing, and so much more. Being committed to releasing weekly episodes has meant creating consistency — a commitment to brainstorming topics, writing outlines, recording each episode, blogging about each episode, and marketing each episode — week by week.

And this weekly routine actually inspired today’s podcast topic — consistency. We firmly believe in the power of consistency as small business owners… how seemingly small, daily actions can lead to long-term business success. How the seeds you planted in months or years past can make all the difference in your business today. That’s why, today, we’re exploring 5 areas to aim for consistency in — because the routines and consistency you create today can truly make all the difference for your business.

Aim for Consistency in These 5 Areas of Your Small Business - With Grace and Gold - Brand It, Build It Podcast for Creative Small Business Owners and Entrepreneurs

Aim for Consistency in These 5 Areas

In January 2020, when we added a new facet to our business — our podcast — we knew having a podcast would be more than simply recording each episode. Since then, we’ve learned about the preparation required before recording — and the marketing required after recording. Having a podcast has meant creating a new routine within our business — so we can successfully and consistently release one episode per week.

Though small business ownership is made up of big moments — such as client projects you complete — it’s also made up of small, daily actions… ways we can chisel away at big goals or create consistency in our marketing and daily business operations. So, today, we want to explore 5 areas of your business to aim for consistency in.

  1. Your Client Experience. It’s likely that, at the heart of your small business, is your client experience — the services you provide and the way you serve your clients through a specific step-by-step process. We recommend using a project management system within your business — and providing a client experience guide to your clients. That way, you’ll have a resource available for your business and for your clients — a resource to equip you to seamlessly lead and guide your clients through their step-by-step process. A consistent client experience allows you to serve your clients well, to determine ways your client experience can be changed or enhanced, and to ensure your clients are receiving the same elevated experience.
  2. Blogging. For With Grace and Gold, blogging and content creation has made a major difference. From 2014-2016, we published one new blog post per day, and more recently, we publish one new blog post per week. In Episode 090, we share how your blog and using Pinterest to market each blog post can help you to grow your business. Having a consistent content calendar can equip you to manage and maintain your business, to share your expertise with your visitors and readers, and to enhance your Search Engine Optimization. All of these details can work together to elevate your business as a whole.
  3. Social Media Marketing. Marketing your small business among all social media platforms can be a challenge, so we often recommend being present on the social media platforms where your prospective clients are present. We recommend creating a content calendar you can consistently manage. As an example, though we wish we could confidently post each day, posting every other day is more manageable for our business. No matter the schedule you choose, your consistency can help create routine within your business, and help you to experience peace of mind about your marketing efforts. Of course, outsourcing for social media marketing can be a great option for small business owners who would like to be more present on each platform and would like to hire a professional for help.
  4. Newsletter Writing. As social media platforms grow and change or ebb and flow, your newsletter will remain something you have ownership over. In Episode 016, we share 3 lead magnet ideas for growing your newsletter audience. A consistent newsletter writing strategy can help you to foster community within and surrounding your business and to equip your audience members for success.
  5. Networking. Lastly, an area to create consistency in is in relationship-building — fostering relationships with fellow creative small business owners, finding community among small business owners, and networking. Our small businesses are all strengthened when we work together and can collaborate with one another, so we recommend consistently reaching out to fellow business owners, or committing to attending certain events or conferences. It’s exciting to think about the friendships you might form, or the opportunities you might create, when you connect with others.

These past 7 years in business have taught us how consistency can make all the difference. Which of these areas would you like to have more consistency in?
