3 Roadblocks Keeping You from Brand and Web Design

When we look back on the variety of business decisions we’ve made over the years, we often find ourselves saying, “We wish we would’ve pursued this sooner!” From hiring a videography business to create a brand video about our business to hiring a social media marketing company to create social media ads for our business — we realized our own fears and our own lack of information had been holding us back from pursuing new features and layers of our small business. So, today, we want to pull back the curtain on our brand and web design process, share more information about what the brand and web design process looks like at With Grace and Gold, and help to remove any roadblocks which could be holding you back from pursuing an elevated online presence on behalf of your small business.

3 Roadblocks Keeping You from Brand and Web Design

When you’re a small business owner, you’re a decision-maker. From deciding which products and services your business will offer to deciding how you’ll provide those products and services to your customers and clients — sometimes, the decision-making process feels endless.

With so many decisions to make, it’s natural to want to keep things as-is rather than pursue something new or to add new layers to your small business. For years, we held off on having a brand video created for our business. For years, we were too nervous to spend any money on advertising. But over the years, we’ve realized our own fears and our own lack of understanding was in the way. We didn’t fully understand how our brand video could serve our business — or how advertising could help our business to make meaningful progress.

The same can be said of pursuing a new brand and web design on behalf of your small business. In each episode of The Brand It, Build It Podcast, we share more and more about how brand and web design can work on behalf of your small business — helping you to more seamlessly connect with your audience, helping you to more confidently grow your business, and even helping you to boost your revenue as a whole.

But knowing your business could benefit from a new brand and web design and finally saying “yes” to pursuing a new brand and web design are separate steps in the decision-making process.  So, today, we want to share more about how to confidently decide to pursue brand and web design for your small business.

  1. First, know brand and web design are an investment. At With Grace and Gold, we do our best to share about the results our brand and web design clients experience. Some clients share that they doubled or even tripled their revenue following their design process, because they finally have a brand and web design rooted in connection and service — a brand and web design uniquely and professionally-created to grow their business. Other clients share that they finally have a visual foundation to house all of their unique offerings — like their services, podcast episodes, or educational offerings — in an organized and connection-driven way. By investing in your brand and web design, you’re investing in the future of your small business — changing the way your business is perceived by your audience or by prospective clients comparing your business to another, showcasing the value of your offerings, and having an online presence you truly love and feel proud to share.
  2. Next, know you don’t have to know about brand and web design to pursue professional brand and web design. When I speak with prospective clients, they often express fears or concerns that they don’t know what direction they want their brand and web design to go in. I always have to pause and share that our job as professional brand and web designers is to gather what you already know about your business — who you are, what you do, who you serve, and how you serve — and create a professional brand and web design rooted in the strong foundation you’ve already created for your business. To gather the goals and big dreams you have for your business and create a meaningful and lasting design. As an example, when we hired a videographer to create a brand video for With Grace and Gold, we didn’t know anything about videography, but our videographers asked us questions, we provided answers — and they created a really meaningful and purpose-driven video. When we hired a social media company to create advertisements for With Grace and Gold, we answered questions about our hopes and goals, and the company created our ads. Over the years, we’ve learned, being a successful small business owner can mean knowing when to delegate — when to hire experts to guide us in the areas of business we aren’t strong or knowledgeable in. So, if you’re on the fence about pursuing a brand and web design, and not knowing what you want your brand and web design to look like is holding you back — know a professional designer will guide you, step-by-step, through the process of discovering the best approach to your brand and web design. In fact, it can be helpful if you begin your design process without a clear vision, so your designers can present you with a completely original design, deeply rooted in your long-term success.
  3. Lastly, know the design process can and should reveal the best approach to your brand and web design. Through the questions we ask our clients in our Brand Discovery Questionnaire, we are able to gain a deep and well-rounded understanding of our client’s business. Design is like the visual interpretation of the words our clients share with us, and often, the best part of the design process is seeing how those initial thoughts and ideas become realized as a brand and web design. Just like a painter begins with a blank canvas or a copywriter begin with a blank Word document — a brand and web design business brings your online presence to life through a blend of artistic creativity and business strategy.

In the end, pursuing something new on behalf of your small business can seem overwhelming. But through outsourcing for certain areas of our own small business, we’ve discovered that we don’t need to be experts or have a fully-developed vision to hire a professional. Instead, we can share our hopes and goals — and then trust the expert we hire to bring our seemingly-disconnected ideas to life. Though we had never pursued a brand video, our videographers had created hundreds of videos and knew exactly what to do with our scattered ideas.  Similarly, as professional brand and web designers, our job and our joy is to create meaningful, purpose-driven brands and web designs for our clients — no matter the season of business they are in.  We hope today’s episode has helped to provide a more well-rounded look at the brand and web design process — and has equipped you to confidently pursue any next step in your small business.
