Over the years, many of our clients have asked us whether or not we believe a blog is necessary. We always respond with a wholehearted YES, we believe a blog is necessary. No matter what kind of small business you own, a blog can help you to:
- Find your voice and learn to communicate well as a small business owner.
- Develop a meaningful connection with your audience through the content you share.
- Boost your website’s Search Engine Optimization (SEO) in a purposeful way.
Today, we’re excited to share 3 blogging steps you simply can’t skip!
3 Blogging Steps You Simply Can’t Skip
- Completing each and every field. When we’re behind-the-scenes of our blog post, we make sure to complete each and every field available to us. We create a Title, Subtitle (Using a WordPress Subtitle Plugin), complete our Yoast SEO fields (Using the Yoast SEO Plugin), select a Category, and type in Tags. Behind-the-scenes of our blog post, each and every detail that can be completed is completed – and here’s why: When you complete all of those fields, you’re increasing the likelihood of your blog post being found. You’re making it easier for visitors of your blog to find the content they’re looking for. And finally, you’re boosting your blog post’s Search Engine Optimization. It’s easy to skip over certain fields, or to leave certain details blank – but challenge yourself to complete each and every field behind-the-scenes of your WordPress blog post. When you do, you’ll rest assured that your blog post is working for you!
- Creating a pin-able graphic to accompany your blog post. Using Pinterest is a great way to better ensure your blog posts live on. What we mean is, it’s common for small business owners to share their blog post only on the day it is published. Pinterest allows us to pin graphics which link to our blog post – and in turn, our blog post can live on. When our pin is re-pinned, traffic to our blog post can multiply. Currently, Pinterest is our #1 source of website traffic – and we wholeheartedly believe it is due to the multiplying effect Pinterest offers!
- Sharing and re-sharing your blog post. As mentioned above, it’s common for small business owners to share their blog post only on the day it is published. Using tools like Buffer, CoSchedule, Pinterest, and Facebook’s ‘scheduling’ feature, find ways to share and re-share your blog posts on social media in the weeks, months, and years to come. That way, tools can do the work for you, and your blog posts can live on!
