Everyday Practices for Strong SEO

Today’s post is our favorite of the SEO 101 series, because it’s all about the everyday practices you can put into place, in your small business. Our top tip for strong SEO? Blogging. Creating content on a regular basis can greatly enhance your SEO. Here are our top tips and practices:

1. Install Yoast SEO. When blogging via WordPress, first, install the Yoast SEO plugin. The Yoast SEO plugin is a Search Engine Optimization plugin that actually coaches you on how to enhance each blog post you write and ensure its SEO is strengthened. Once you install the Yoast SEO plugin, you’ll see an analysis at the bottom of your blog post editor. There, you’ll be able to read up on the various tips the plugin has for enhancing your SEO. Follow these tips!
2. Within each blog post, label your graphics and photos using your keywords. Once again, rather than labeling your graphics and photos “Photo1.jpg” consider using your business name or your keywords to label each graphic and photo: “With Grace and Gold – Branding, Web Design, Education – Photo1.jpg.” Doing so will enhance your SEO!
3. Use at least 300 words in every post. By writing at least 300 words, Google will have content to pull from and index.
4. Link both internally and externally. Purposeful links are a big help when it comes to Search Engine Optimization. Link to resources within your Website (other blog posts, your foundational pages) as well as to resources outside of your Website. Doing so will be very beneficial for your SEO.
5. Finally, blog regularly. Keep your Website and blog current by blogging regularly. Your recent content will not only help visitors to know that your business is alive and well, but it will also help your Search Engine Optimization to improve!
