3 Keys to a Productive Workday

1. Begin with a prioritized plan. Begin each day with a “plan of attack.” Whether you use an online project management system, or good old fashioned pen and paper, it’s important to begin every day with a prioritized plan — a list of “things to do” in priority order. That way, you will have a clear “path” for your day ahead.
2. Put distractions aside. At With Grace and Gold, both Andra and I keep our social media “tabs” closed throughout the entire workday. We check in in the morning and afternoon to reply to any comments there may be — but otherwise, we’re “social media free” during the workday. This has helped us to work productively and put our best foot forward when it comes to client-focused work! Additionally, we’ve found, our workday is most productive if we’re away from our TVs or any other distractions.
3. Take meaningful breaks in between tasks. During the day, we find what we call “good breaking points” in between the projects we’re working on. Take a meaningful break during those breaking points — make lunch, go for a walk in your neighborhood, squeeze in a quick workout. When you take a meaningful break during those breaking points, you can move from task to task with a fresh mindset and avoid burnout.
