Our Later App Review
We love Instagram! It’s our go-to and favorite social media platform, but it can also be time consuming for small business owners. We knew we needed a regulated and consistent way of posting, so that A) We weren’t missing out on connecting with our audience, and B) We didn’t spend minutes hours on Instagram! Insert Later! We’ve officially been using Later for a few weeks now… and we have to say… WE LOVE IT!
Pros of the Later App
- You can pre-schedule EVERYTHING! If you haven’t been following our business for long, you have to know….we love systems. We do our best to streamline everything, which is why most of what we post is pre-scheduled. This allows us to focus on our work and our clients.
- You can create Instagram posts from your computer! We often take photos of our work with a DSLR camera, or we will have examples of our designs saved on our computers. Before, we would upload them to Dropbox, save them to our phones, and then go through the hassle of posting on Instagram… NOW, you can do it all from your computer!
- You can create long-winded descriptions! For our business, we like to share stories on our Instagram. It helps us to create community and to share the purpose behind our work. You can type your caption on your computer… it’s so much easier than typing via phone.
- A more regulated posting system: When it comes to social media marketing and growing your Instagram following, creating a system for posting is essential. Because you can pre-schedule each post, your Instagram posts become more dependable.
- It’s free! For a certain number of posts per month, you can use Later for free. Otherwise, Later does offer a few subscription options that allow unlimited posting.
Cons of the Later App
- The posts don’t post automatically. While you can pre-schedule everything, Later doesn’t actually do the posting for you. A notification will pop up on your phone, you click it, and it takes you directly to Instagram. The description and photo are already there; the hard part is done for you. You just have to click ‘Share!’ While we would love for Later to post for us, doing so manually is easy enough.
- It’s not as easy for people with more than one Instagram account. Since we are both posting to multiple profile — our With Grace and Gold profile plus our personal profiles — Later doesn’t ‘read’ which Instagram profile you are on. So, you do have to make sure that you are on your desired profile before clicking ‘Share!’ Not a huge deal… just something to remember!
